It has been a social and political notion for centuries ... with the intent to offend; these two terms are used and if the individual is not confident, sure of themselves, and/or has not embraced their "black", it will offend and it can create an identity of it's own. It is important as an African American person/being that you brace who you are and what you are which allows you to define yourself before someone else does.

The quick and easy take away is ... find, define and embrace yourself/your being which prevents you from taking on other's definition of you.
